The EF 70-200mm lens is a telephoto zoom lens made by Canon Inc.
The lens has an EF mount to work with the EOS(Electro-Optical System)
line of cameras. It competes primarily with the Nikon F Series
successors, as well as autofocus SLR systems from Olympus
Pentax
The EF lens mount is the standard lens mount on the Canon EOS family
of SLR film and digital cameras. EF stands for “Electro-Focus”:
automatic focusing on EF lenses is handled by a dedicated electric
motor built into the lens. Mechanically, it is a bayonet-style mount,
and all communication between camera and lens takes place through
electrical contacts; there are no mechanical levers or plungers.
The lens comes in five different versions, all of which have fixed
maximum aperture at all focal lengths and are L-series lenses.

Our consensus of the Canon ef 70-200mm Lineup
Although there are many very good quality lenses that we could choose from, none have met all of our criteria as well as the Canon EF 70-200MM telephoto zoom lenses.
The quality and performance are second to none, and the only negatives that we could even report would be the cost, and the weight. Both, in our opinion, are not really a factor, as a lense of this size and caliber will always be somewhat heavy, and the price we feel, goes like this…..you get what you pay for. There are less expensive lenses on the market, however, if you demand a higher standard of quality to attain your desired results, you simply must pay a higher price. We feel that the price is matched very well to the quality we demand.
